TEAL, the Task Editor And Launcher

Sontag, Chris

A graphical user interface named TEAL is presented as an aid to the user in configuring software tasks which have many or complicated parameters. TEAL, the Task Editor And Launcher, can be used for any Python task which takes a dictionary of startup parameters. TEAL allows the user to edit, save, and load parameter values, guiding the user based on knowledge of each parameters' type, allowed and default values. This is all accomplished through a standardized GUI interface. TEAL is based on ConfigObj, and is easy to add to any existing software task, without any GUI programming required. TEAL is currently being used at the Space Telescope Science Institute for the MultiDrizzle program as well as for other calibration tools.
