The LOFAR Transients Pipeline
LOFAR, the Low Frequency Array, will provide an unprecedented high-sensitivity, wide-field view of the low frequency universe. The Transients Key Science Project will exploit this capability by routinely monitoring a large fraction of the northern sky, identifying transients on a range of timescales and performing real-time analysis, classification and, where appropriate, response.
A software pipeline is being constructed to address the significant challenges involved in reaching this goal, including processing and archiving the huge volumes of data involved. The Python-based framework originally developed to support this pipeline is now being used as part of a number of other LOFAR observing modes.
This poster will outline the structure of the pipeline and its associated framework.
